Planning for the Weather is tricky for businesses

The weather at the weekend was lovely for the first time in ages so I was not surprised to read the Guardians report  – “Britain hits the shops as barbecue-friendly weather arrives”.  But how difficult it must be to plan if you are a retailer and your revenue is dependent on the vaguries of the weather. One area that could help is your historical data. It could help you determine where the seasonal trends are and how much impact it is likely to have on your business. Do you have a planning system that allows you easy access to your historical data so you can run various what if scenarios depending on what you think the weather may do in the near future?
